1 LORD, listen to my righteous plea;
you will not find deceit in me
as my prayers rise.
Examine me and probe my heart
to see that I have kept apart
from ways of sin.
2 I know that you will hear my prayer
and show the marvel of your care
to those who trust.
LORD, as the apple of your eye
may I be kept in safety by
your mighty hand.
3 Beneath the shadow of your wings
protect me from all evil things
surrounding me.
Protect me from my enemies
who plot with calculating ease
to take my life.
4 Their hearts are hard, they speak with pride,
they track me down from every side
like lion's prey.
By your great power and majesty
rise up, O LORD, and rescue me
from such as these.
5 For your own people you provide;
with gifts their children you supply
from your great store.
At dawn I will be satisfied,
when I in righteousness abide
before your face.
