Verse 1

Clothe yourself my soul with gladness

Leave the gloomy haunts of sadness

Come into the daylight's splendor

There with joy your praises render

Praise the Lord whose grace unbounded

Has this wondrous banquet founded

Though o'er every power excelling

Yet he makes my heart his dwelling

Verse 2

Hasten as a bride to meet him

And with loving reverence greet him

For with words of love and mercy

Christ is knocking seeking entry

Open wide the gates before him

Kneeling at his feet adore him

Saying Lord let me receive you

And I nevermore will leave you

Verse 3

How we long with all our spirit

For the love we do not merit

From our weary sighs Lord free us

With this heavenly food now feed us

May we when by life discouraged

By this cup of life be nourished

Thankful that our Friend invites us

And with God himself unites us

Verse 4

Jesus bread of life we pray you

Let us gladly here obey you

By this banquet let us measure

Lord how vast your love our treasure

By your grace we are invited

By your love we are united

As on earth you love and feed us

So in heaven dear lord receive us
