1 Come to the Feast, for Christ invites
and promises to feed,
'tis here His closest love unites
the members to their Head.
'Tis here He nourishes His own
with Living Bread from heaven,
and makes Himself to mourners known,
and shows their sins forgiven.
2 Still in His instituted ways
He bids us ask the power,
the pardoning or the hallowing grace
and wait th'appointed hour.
'Tis not for us to set our God
a time His grace to give,
the benefit whene'er bestowed
we gladly should receive.
3 Who seek redemption through His love,
His love shall them redeem;
He came self-emptied from above
that we might live through Him.
Expect we then the quickening word
who at His altar bow:
but if it be Thy pleasure, Lord,
O let us find Thee now.
