1 O Lord, send forth your Spirit
to seize our wayward mind;
For still, in this world's fashion,
We hunger for a sing.
For you, O Lord, have made us
That, not by signs or bread,
But only by your Gospel
Can human souls be fed.
2 Though secrets of the atom
And worlds of distant light
And nature's wondrous patterns
Proclaim your mind and might,
We praise you most for witness,
From each to each passed on,
That sings creation's meaning:
The Gospel of your Son.
3 So take us, lead and use us
To sing your praise, O God;
That voices, gifts and service
May speed your Word abroad,
That all in every nation
May hear what we have heard,
And that the minds of millions
Be nurtured by your Word.
