1 Our lives are filled with sorrows,
the joys are simply told;
yet through all generations
you, Lord, kept us consoled.
2 The final adversary
has robbed our *brother's breath,
but Christ arose and conquered
this evil, hateful death.
3 O Spirit, mend our grieving;
our *brother now is safe,
white-robed near God's throne, praising
with all who died in faith.
4 Help me to live with gladness;
your love, Lord, keeps me awed.
Not even death can sever
I know I shall see God!
