1 We gather round the table now
In gratitude and awe.
Christ is the host, the nourishment,
The message without flaw.
2 In joy and solemn praise we come,
To celebrate and sing.
Our visions and remembrances
Alike to Christ we bring.
3 Recalling now the upper room
And Calvary's dark hill,
We recognize our sinfulness,
Christ our atonement still.
4 The shadowed garden where Christ prayed
That God's own will be done
Reminds us that humanity
In Christ alone is one.
5 So now Christ's strength can feed us all
In common daily bread.
We drink the life poured out and find
Our souls and bodies fed.
6 Around this table, in this place,
Are all named by Christ's name;
An unseen cloud of witnesses
With us the gospel claim.
